Therefore, I am so glad that these pieces have returned and I am able to be a part of it again. Its going to be interesting to see what my younger sistas come up with. To my brothas, colors are in so please do not disappoint because I like a man who is not afraid to wear them.Check out the pictures of the latest styles below and please share what styles you like and will be wearing. PEACE!
The next time your little girl come running home saying, I'm ugly, I don't like my hair, I'm too dark-skinned. Please send her straight to my my blog or tumblr so she can see how Beautiful Black/Afro-American babies are. We as mothers need to reiterate to our daughters how beautiful they are. There are so many naturals out here now that they do not have to want to imitate Barbie or Ken. No disrepect to Pecadora99 (A young lady blog/channel I follow) & Nikki Minaj and her fans. This was a stigma that society once placed on our babies to identify how we should look. We are not Barbie's or Ken's, We Are Kings & Queens! As someone once said, OUR NATURAL HAIR IS THE CLOSEST THING TO BEING OURSELVES, PEACE!

SPIRITUAL FOOD OF THE DAY...
Topic: Passing Judgement, You Decide
This word is thrown around so much that I just had to speak on the subject. When I hear people talking about someone passing judgment on them, 99.5% of the time, it is always in the form of someone speaking to them mainly about something they are doing that requires correction, then its, don't judge me. C'mon now, if someone is watching you about to fall off a cliff, you mean, you would not want them to warn or stop you. Most want to do what they want, when they want. But when the time come when we begin to reap the benefits of the bad seed sown and/or decision made, most cannot handle it. Now they are calling for prayer, encouragement, or whatever that relieves them from the pressures of life. People making comments about negative things you are doing are not judging you, this is called correction. They are merely looking out for your well-being. The Bible says, "Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains (disregard, despise) correction, but he who regards a rebuke will be honored." (Prov.13:13)
“Judge me not lest ye be judged," was used when someone was obsessing over another flaws, mainly used in the Christian circle. Here God was telling Christian not to be concerned with other people flaws when we have our own. Now flaws are different from doing something you know you should not be doing. Nearly everyone quote this piece of scripture, Christian and non-Christian and most of the time it’s used out of text. Passing judgment is when someone doesn't have a clue in what you are doing, cannot see the big picture sort to speak and since they can't, start making irrational gestures/comments. For example, Susan Boyle, the Singer that receive fame from being on American Idol (Britain), before she performed what I call her X Factor, the majority of the people judged her on the way she looked and her age. This woman never opened her mouth to begin to sing before she got side eyes, chuckles, etc. Just think about how she could have felt if she was somewhat timid. She never would have gain the fame she has now instead she probably would have had a meltdown right there on the stage. Someone commented, it was edited for TV. Whatever way, it showed a great example of someone being judged, directly or indirectly. Now, that’s passing judgment.
To sum this up, if its correction that we need, let's examine ourselves and make the necessary changes and if we find that the person was passing judgment then we can assuredly say to him/her, please don't judge lest ye be judge.

This poem was written back in 1996 by me at a time when my spirit was troubled and I could not grasp the reason why so many evil things were happening. I cried out to God and asked why, like so many of us. This is what he said to me in the Spirit. I have never considered myself as a writer or poet. However, I am so glad God used me to speak to his people. Things have gotten worst since then and because of this poem, it helps me to cope because I understand who is behind it all. Please understand that the enemy can only be beaten in the Spirit. I hope you take the time to read this poem or listen to the audio, and that it will help you as much as it has me...I love fashion and fixing my hair but there is nothing so important to me as living life for Christ.
THE ENEMY EXPOSED
The enemy was first exposed in the heavenly sky Lucifer was the name that he went by God saw him as the morning star So he arrayed him with diamonds and sapphire The enemy was not satisfied, he wanted more He actually wanted to be the creator His heart became filled with envy and pride And he wanted to be the king where he reside The ministry of music was his gift Look how its used if you get my drift
God kicked him out of heavens rim And one-third of the angels fell after him The enemy home now is here with us God has presented him as the ruler of the earth That is until Jesus return Then forever in eternity will his soul burn And every one that the enemy takes with him Will say, "Is this the spirit that we befriend Those who are doing evil things, it not them The enemy deceived them but really its him
The bible says, we wrestle not against flesh and blood But against the demon spirits that are in this world That is why God says, vengeance is mine He knows the real person those demons hide behind God wants your soul to be born-again So he can help you to defeat Satan He will prepare you for the battles that is coming your way So you can withstand in the evil day We are destroyed because of the knowledge we lack God wants you to get back Your visions and dreams you put on hold Because you placed yourself under the enemy control Give yourself to the Lord while he can be found Because another opportunity might not come around Exposing the enemy to you is my highest aim Its my prayer that your eyes be open in Jesus name
My loc journey actually started in the 70’s. While guys were sporting a clean cut, there were these two guys, who lived on my block parading dreadlocks. I remember them being mid-length, going in every direction and looking well kind of dirty. People would tease them all the time but they would just square their shoulders and continue to walk with such pride. Although, I did not care for the way they looked, I guess my attraction was the fact that they were different. It was something about these guys that set them apart from the rest. Maybe it was the fact that they walked around like they did not have a care in the world. I remember saying for years, I wanted dreadlocks but the fact that most people I saw wearing them at the time, wore them just like they did, DIRTY looking. I learned now that perhaps they were not dirty at all but was worn in what is called, the rasta style. In addition, they were not acceptable in the workplace. Around the late 90’s, I started to see more people adapting to dreadlocks. The difference this time was, they were clean, stylish, and the word dread had been eliminated. Also, they became acceptable in the workplace. Stylists start calling them LOCS. This is when I decided to try them. I cut all my hair off like the guys I mentioned, starting with a clean cut. This is because I was told that you could not have any perm in your hair. Once my hair was long enough to start the locs, I wore them for about five months before giving up. I wish I could tell you, I have been wearing them since then but unfortunately, I cannot. For me, somehow, I battle with the stages I had to go through, mainly lack of patience. Eventually, I took the locs out. It took me about three days to do it. Although, I stay natural for about a year, I would eventually perm my hair again. I immediately regret doing it, so after about six months, I cut my hair again. I would repeat this pattern again and again, five more times actually.
In the early part of 2009, one of my friends asked me to try again and this time, we were going to start the process together. I was kind of reluctant at first, only because I thought that I would not have the patience to get through what I call, the ugly stages and the fact I had just put another perm in my hair two weeks prior. By this time, my hair was chin length. However, I took her up on the offer. Since, I knew how to start locs, I tried and failed. Because of the perm, they came out looking like strings of spaghetti. I finally called my stylist, explain my situation and ask her if she thought she could start them. She said sure, and she did. My problem was, I did not make them big enough She told me try not to get my hair wet for at least two months. From that point on, the myth about you cannot have any perm in your hair was incorrect. My hair started to bud about two months later. I would put a small amount of setting lotion on them and roll them up. They looked really cute, at least I thought so.
One year and a couple months later, I am enjoying my locs. I play with them all the time, finding different ways to style them. Oh, and now, I understand how those two guys felt while in the mist of being teased, they continued to square their shoulders and walk with such pride. Wearing locs does give you a sense of pride and freedom. It’s hard to explain why. Let me just say, I love the way I feel wearing them. Now, since I kept your interest this far, check out my journey video page and tell me what you think. I take you through most of the early stages of my locs. The only thing I find disappointing is that I cannot show you my starter pictures. I had them on my cell phone and when my sim card failed, I lost my pictures. With that being said, I hope that I have inspired you to start locs if you have been contemplating and for those who started them and gave up, there is hope. Just tell yourself that, “failure is not an option and keep trying.” Hope you enjoyed my story. Be Bless!
