Hi Ladies & Gents,
Today I decided to write about Afro-American women sporting different hair colors. As black women, we always tried some type of color in our hair but for the most part, it was usually colors like light brown or blonde. Those of us who had light color hair would go for black. Later in years, some of us us decided to go a bit more blonde and believe me, there was plenty of talk about that, which I would not discuss today because I would never finish writing, lol. However, I wanted to feature this article today because I notice that we are now getting beyond those colors. We are sporting reds, blues, green, pink, purple, orange, gray and even white. I love it how we are starting to be so creative with not only our clothing but also our hair. Now to be honest, everyone cannot rock this. Well let me just say, everyone do not choose the right color for their complexion, lol. Some look like a hot mess and need to have a seat, lol. Hopefully you are not one of them, lol
Frankly, I think Lil Kim started it. However, it did not become as popular until the arrival of Nicki Minaj. I mean you saw them in hair shows and videos, things like that but not in your own backyard or neighborhood. It is funny because these women got blasted by some of us for rocking different colors only to later come back and sport them and some are doing a fabulous job. Yall see how we do and yes I include myself. Really, we as black women have to do better in this area. Because something is a lil different does not mean it is a bad thing. Side note, Black women, please stop calling each other, bitches, bishes. No matter how you spell it a bitch or bish,it still means bitch which we are not. I have become to hate this word and am trying desperately to erase it out of my vocabulary...
Anywho back to the topic at hand, lol. I am telling you, I am really feeling the hair colors. Personally, I would not sport the colors only because I have locs and they are light/dark brown. I do not want to take the risk of re-dying and later on, my texture is not the same or I endure some type of breakage. You ladies know what I mean. Also, because of my age and position at work, it would not be appropriate. You know how office politics goes. I will tell you this, if I was a little younger and had more carefree days, hell yeah, I would most definitely rock one of these colors. I think the purple or blue would have set well with my complexion. For this become a report, lol, let me stop running my mouth. Below is some pics I pulled of beautiful women rocking multiple colors, staring with LIL Kim and Nicki Minaj. I hope you like them. By the way, if you are checking out my blog and sport locs with any of these colors, please let me know if you want to be featured on my blog. For loc appreciation week, I want to feature black women rocking different loc colors. Thank you again for your continue love and support. Peace & Blessing, Much Luv!
